Dear eZine Reader,
In this issue, I got an excellent article authored by Michael Dlouhy &
Charles Burke. If you take the time to read it and to do the homework, it
will change the growth of both your business and yourself at a very deep
level. So set some time in your schedule now to go through the
process. That's the best gift you can give to yourself.
I remind you that me and others are organizing a few generic Internet / network
marketing training calls that are planned for the following weeks. Here's
the information for the coming ones... I'll give you additional details on
other calls aimed to the industry at large in the next issues.

3 Questions Nobody Likes
by Charles Burke
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Articles and lessons are a great way to learn about a subject. But as
Confucius wrote 15 centuries ago,
"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."
What follows is a short list of questions... sort of like a workshop exercise.
Of course, you can read these questions and breeze through them in a few
seconds.
If, however, you do this exercise right, you won't find it a breeze at all.
Instead, you'll probably find yourself involved in at least a couple of hours of
hard thought. Maybe more.
That's if you do it right.
Now, I know -- just as sure as the sun rises -- that this change of pace will
bring me a flurry of complaints.
But that's okay. Because you don't have to do any of this. You can simply delete
it or click away or print this issue out and tear it to shreds. You're free to
do anything you like.
But if you're not prepared to invest this little bit of effort for yourself,
then you need to consider unsubscribing from the Sizzling Edge, because if this
is too much bother, or it's just too inconvenient, then it may be that I care
more about your growth than you do.
With that said, if you're still with me let's begin shall we?
Take this list of questions and supply your answers.
You should come out the other end of this exercise with a much clearer idea
about what you're doing (and not doing).
So grab a pen and paper, and let's dive in.
Question 1. What do you want?
Specifically:
What do you want to be rid of?
What do you want to add to your life?
This is not a superficial question. Of course you can write "I want a
million dollars, and two Rolls Royce's, and a 20-room mansion, and all the
things that go with them." But here's your chance to break through the
usual superficial "stock answers" and get down into the real things
you want in (and out of) your life.
HINT: Try finding and naming the underlying feelings, the joys, the
satisfactions, the acclaim. And go digging deep into the areas within yourself
where you crave growth.
The real answers won't come within the first 5 or 10 or 15 minutes. You've
probably spent decades burying your real desires. So it's unlikely that you'll
coax them out without some real effort and hard digging.
Question 2. How long have you wanted these things?
Specifically:
Which are long-term desires?
Which of them are new desires?
A lot of the things we want -- our latest goals -- are usually recent add-ons,
and they may change with the weather. They come and go depending on whatever we
see around us, whatever we've read recently, and whomever we've talked with
lately. So they're like the wind. Some of them change almost daily.
Once you have worked your way through these wishy-washy wishes, only then can
you start finding the long-term things that really have fundamental meaning to
you.
As you work on question 2, you'll probably find yourself going back and revising
things you wrote in question 1. And understanding them better.
Question 3. What's stopping you from having what you desire?
Specifically:
Which are the external factors?
Which are the internal factors?
You'll find yourself trying to pass off answers like:
My father wouldn't let me study art so....
My husband doesn't take me seriously so....
I have family responsibilities, so I can't....
There's never enough time to....
These are external factors... and you can assume that every single external
reason is not a reason. It's only a flag marking where a real reason is buried.
To find the real reason hiding under your external reason, ask yourself this:
If I had disobeyed my father, what would have happened?
If I ignored my husband's criticism, then what?
If I found more time, would I really want to do this?
Force yourself to look at the "what-ifs" and explore the hard
possibilities that you have shied away from. Indeed, what WOULD have happened?
What would happen if you do it now?
You'll probably spend the most time on this part of the exercise. In fact, if
you take this seriously, you won't be able to get through question 3 in less
than an hour. You're likely to find yourself coming back to this question again
and again during the coming days.
And you're also likely to come up with some uncomfortable realizations about
yourself and your motivations. You may even find that many life-shaping actions
have been prompted by cowardice -- a simple unwillingness to endure a bit of
disapproval.
So that's your assignment this week. Answer 3 questions.
But answer them well; your future COULD change forever.
