PROSPECTING IN PERSON - Private Email Correspondence -

Mr. Calvert,

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this email.

The person who signed me up in EveryDayWealth died not too long ago (heart attack - 45 years old). He lived over 1,000 miles away from me, so I am pretty much going at it alone.

My question: How do you prospect in person? I am referring to talking to people, while say, standing in line. The other day I was in line at the post office and all I wanted to do was give the guy my business card. But I wasn't sure what to say.

My objective is to simply give a person my business card and let them check out my website.

So I am looking for an ice breaker that I can use consistently when talking to people in person.

P.S. Some of the sales books I have read call this the 3 Foot Rule. They suggest paying the person a compliment or saying something about how nice the person looks. "That's a nice looking lapel/tie you have there. Where did you get it?" Another one that I read in a book about sales was, "Do I know you from somewhere?"

These sound phony and insincere and if they come across that way to me, then they are surely to come across that way to a prospect.

Hi Paul,

We teach to simply look a person in the eye and say:

Hi, Could you do me a favor?

(Think about this, if someone asked you, what would you say? People love to help people if they can.) Most people will say something like, how can I help you? Or what do you need.

I have never had someone say flat out NO, I won't .

After they respond, I simply say

My wife and I are expanding our business in this area and we are looking for a sharp person that we can teach how to make an extra $1,000 - $3,000 a month working from home on their computer.

If you run across anyone who might be looking to improve their financial situation, would you just give them my business card (I say this as I am handing them the card) and ask them to check out my website and contact me if they feel they quality? (Make sure you say, "if you run across someone", NOT "if you know someone", don't it makes it too easy for them to say "I don't know anyone")

The person will always take the card, and guess what they do when they get home..... You guessed it, they log onto my website. We do everything in life out of curiosity.

It really is that simple. Recruiting is ALL NUMBERS, the more contacts you make, the more people you will ultimately recruit.
