ARTICLE: "You Can Find Gold In Hawaiian Rainbows"
- A Lesson In How To Become a Proactive Optimist
Dear Subscribers,
I want to express care and concern for the victims and families of Tuesday's tragedy. I saw what happened and I want to offer you my sympathies. What happened is terrible and I'm sad for all of those innocent people who are victims of free violence from people who could have used other means to state their point.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
"You Can Find Gold In Hawaiian Rainbows" - A Lesson In How To Become a Proactive Optimist
by Randy Gilbert
In this article you will discover how to become a proactive optimist. Being an optimist is critical to your success, because research shows people generally do not like a pessimist and will only do business with an optimist.
Come with me to an exotic place where the bright sun warms the air while a whispering breeze cools your skin and makes the palms sway. Gentle waves peacefully lap the sandy beach and the fragrance of tropical flowers and fresh pineapple make you smile. As you look up you experience a brilliant spectrum of colors radiating from the most spectacular rainbow you've ever seen.
We are on the island of Maui in Hawaii, where I grew up. The rainbows on Maui are so beautiful that you "experience" them, they can actually give you goose bumps.
Island people say there is magic in the Hawaiian Rainbow. I believe there is more than magic, there's gold. You can have this gold if you follow the three strategies that the Hawaiian Rainbow teaches about becoming a proactive optimist.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Strategy 1. Have a Positive Attitude About The Rain
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How do Hawaiian Rainbows develop?
The same as other rainbows, sunlight reflects off the rain. In our lives the rain represents adversity, problems, and sometimes failures. Sometimes these things make our lives uncomfortable, but we need them to strengthen our character and help us to grow.
Moments of adversity are necessary in order for us to experience spectacular successes. If you want more rainbows in your life, you need to develop a positive attitude about the rain.
Proactive optimism comes from a deep-seated faith that all things work together for our good, even our problems. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale said, "God gives us gifts of opportunity, but he usually wraps them up in colorful problems."
Hawaiian Rainbows teach you to have a high regard for adversity, because it can bring you success and abundance.

Strategy 2. Discover Where The Gold Comes From
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"How can you get the gold if you can't find the end of the rainbow?"
Napoleon Hill said, "Only those who have the habit of going the extra mile ever find the end of the rainbow." Whoever goes the extra mile, obligates the other person to return the favor in the future. When you are driven by a burning desire to serve your fellow man you will be rewarded with financial and personal success.
Hawaiian Rainbows teach that finding the gold does not have to be elusive. Hawaiian rainbows are spectacular because they "go the extra mile" in serving us. Often you see two, and sometimes three rainbows on top of each other. When that happens, you feel extra blessed, it gives you a smile all day long.
Truly successful people are friendly and never seem to tire of being courteous and kind. They go out of their way to give double and triple rainbow service to others.
Discover where the gold is by developing the habit of going the extra mile and delivering more than what was promised.
Strategy 3. Discover The Never Ending Rainbow
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I enjoyed hiking to the top of the West Maui Mountains. On one occasion the clouds were below me and I was blessed with seeing a Hawaiian Rainbow from the top. From that vantage point I discovered that a rainbow is a perfect circle, it is never ending.
The Hawaiian Rainbow was saying, when you make customer service "never ending" you will be at the top. When your customers experience never ending service, they will return to buy from you over and over again and their lifetime value will be solid gold.
However, there is a common malady called SUPERFICIAL-itis, that makes never ending customer service a rarity. A superficial commitment to service is caused by an attitude of short-term gain and it produces fool's gold.
Dr. Proactive, How do I rid myself of this malady?
My prescription for eliminating SUPERFICIAL-itis is to view your business with a long-term perspective. Find ways to implement unconditional guarantees, give lifetime warrantees, and honor sales agreements. Business success results from a commitment to providing great service regardless of the short-term
consequences.
Genuine commitment ultimately leads you to the real gold of success and abundance, because the universe will always follow the Law of Compensation and reward you accordingly.
Remember the lessons of the Hawaiian Rainbow; you will find the gold when you have a positive attitude about adversity, when you have a burning desire to give double and triple rainbow service,and when your service is never ending. These strategies will make you a proactive optimist. Until we meet again, Aloha!
