Letter from the Editor How Many Times Did You Pay For That Purchase?

How many times will you pay for that furniture? Did you know that if you are like the average US citizen, you have $7,000 in credit card debt? If you pay just the minimum payment each month, it will take you more than 20 years to pay it off. That translates to the sad fact that you will be paying approximately $34,000 big bucks to pay back the original $7,000 you thought the furniture cost you in the first place. Of course, this is assuming that you never use the card again during the rest of the 20+ years that it takes to pay off the furniture purchase.

Now what if you could generate an additional $500 a month in your own business? Could you then apply that to your credit card company in addition to the minimum payment expected? If you did, it would take just a little bit over a year to pay off your debt. This translates to you saving over $33,000 that you would not have to pay as interest payments.

Many people get caught up in credit card debt and can't see a way out. Sorrowfully, what many will do is pick up the phone to call that toll-free number of the bank that will grant them a consolidation loan against their home to pay off those credit cards. Interestingly, all that does is transfer the debt from one area of life to another. Then, usually within 12 to 24 months, they will have their credit cards maxed out once again. Ouch!

Article 1: How To Write Email That Sails Past Spam Filters (legitimately!)

We both know that getting your email delivered these days seems like going through an FBI background check these days.

Not everyone realizes that there are spam filters out there that rate your email -- and if you have the wrong words in your email, it's zapped.

No one will ever see it.

Of course, this isn't good because you work hard on your copy to make sure your list wants to read what you've written.

But that's not enough... in fact, as you'll see, it can be too much!

Alex Mandossian shared the following Spam Assassin Hot List of 17 common phrases to avoid at the BigSeminar2 in San Fransisco...

If your email contains ANY of the following words, you risk having your email filtered:

Subject Line: 

"Hello", "Your Family", "Double Your"

Body Copy: 

"Dear (something)"
"Online Business" 
"For Pennies A Day"
"No Investment"
"While You Sleep"
"Additional Income"
"Financial Freedom"
"Be Your Own Boss"
"Money Making"
"100% Guaranteed"
"Starting Now"
"Take Action Now"
"Requires Initial Investment"

Now, that's not all...

According to the spam checker I use, the following other criteria can kill your email, too:

- Forged mail (pretending to be from Microsoft Outlook)
- Claims you are on a list
- Offers Information on how to work from home
- Risk Free
- Message is 30 to 40% HTML
- Received Via Relay

Now, there are other criteria, and the bad news is that they change all the time as the Spam Filters work to save us from unwanted email.

What can you do?

I recommend using a Spam Checker to evaluate your email so that you know how it is rated -- with an explanation of how you got your score.

Here's what you can do (there are other choices, but this is what I use):

1) Write the word TEST in CAPS in the Subject line, followed by your normal subject line text.

2) Send your email you want evaluated to: 

spamcheck-esales2@sitesell.net 

This is a free service that I use and you are welcome to use it, too. You'll get a reply back, usually within 60 minutes, and it will explain in English what your email scored and what to fix.

Not bad -- so run each email you write through this so you can make sure your email stays within acceptable limits on these red flag words.

Now, just because you put something like "make money" in your email does not mean it will be filtered...but each phrase like that adds points, and if your score is too high, it will likely be filtered.

Also, there are some tricks that will likely work for a while to modify words so that the filters don't recognize them:

bus_iness
fr~ee
freee
Entre_prenuers

You get the idea. How long with those tricks work? Probably until the filters add them to the list...but if you are checking your email with the spam checker I gave you earlier, then you'll know when this happens.

Remember, please don't use these tactics to send spam. I'm sharing this with you because legitimate Opt In email is being negatively affected by these filters and these are ways we can fight back.
